Philips Galle, fue un importante impresor, dibujante y grabador a buril de origen flamenco - Holandés, iniciador de una saga de artistas, es considerado uno de los grabadores mas importantes de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, fue admitido en el reputado gremio de San Lucas, se traslado en Amberes en 1557 donde alcanzo su ciudadanía , en 1567 obtuvo su propio taller por donde pasaron numerosos aprendices que años mas tardes se convertieron en eminentes grabadores.
Falleció en Amberes a la edad de 75 años, le sucedieron en el negocio de estampas sus hijos Cornelius y Theodor Galle.
Philips Galle, was an important printer, draftsman and engraver of Flemish - Dutch origin, initiator of a saga of artist , is considered one of the most important engravers of the second half of the 16th century, was admitted to the reputable guild of St Luke, moved to Antwerp in 1557 where he achieved his citizenship, in 1567 he got his own workshop through which passed numerous apprentices who years later became eminent engravers.
He died in Antwerp at the age of 75, and was succeeded in the engraving business by his son Cornelius and Theodor Galle.
