John Kay, fue un grabador e ilustrador satírico con taller en la ciudad de Edimburgo, en 1784 abandono su negocio de barbero para abrir una imprenta y concentrarse en el dibujo y el grabado pensionado por Sir Henry Jardine ( 1766 - 1851 )
Sus grabados y dibujos fueron recopilados en 1838 por Hugh Paton y publicados en la obra " Portraits and caricatures etchings by the late John Kay, miniature painter, Edimburg with biographical sketches and illustrative anecdotes Vol I, Edinburg Hugh Paton, Cerver and Gilger MDCCCXXXVII "
John Kay, was a sarirical engraver and illustrator with a workshop in the city of Edinburgh, in 1784 he abandoned his barber business to open a printing press and concentrate on drawing and engraving on a grant from Sir Henry Jardine ( 1766 - 1851 ). His engraving and drawings were collected in 1838 by Hugh Paton and published in the work " Portraits and caricatures etchings by the late John Kay, miniature painter, Edinburgh with biographical sketches and illustrative anedoctes Vol I, Edinburgh Hugh Paton, Cerver and Gilger MDCCCXXXVII "
